guide for building performance assessment : protocole and tools

INTRODUCTION

Historic window renovation is often hindered by fragmented assessment practices. Heritage, technical, energy, and functional aspects are typically assessed separately, making it difficult to compare renovation options, balance competing objectives, and support collaborative decision-making.

Developed for project managers and experts, the CALECHE methodology provides an integrated assessment framework that brings together heritage, technical, energy, comfort, and safety considerations into a common set of priorities, enabling informed and transparent renovation decisions.

Two measuring devices were improved in the CALECHE project.

·      The PAM is a portable, direct measurement device. Its primary purpose is to quantify and measure the in-situ (on-site) airtightness and air leakage rate of installed windows and their junctions with building walls.

·      The WUM-box is a portable, research-based thermal transmittance measuring device. Its primary purpose is to measure the in-situ (on-site) thermal transmittance (U-value) of installed windows and their thermal junctions with building walls.
